Description
The 'PALMIRA' grain sorghum is a variety recognized in the State Register and suitable for cultivation in all regions of the country. The variety is distinguished by its high drought resistance, making it particularly valuable for cultivation under limited irrigation conditions. The plants have medium bushiness, an erect short stem, and erect elongated-lanceolate leaves. Plant height ranges from 90 to 113 cm.
The vegetative period of the 'PALMIRA' sorghum is 91–119 days from emergence to maturity, with early maturation achieved as soon as 59–65 days after planting. Seed mass is 3.6–4.1 g per 1000 seeds, indicating good seed quality and high yield. Average dry matter yield is approximately 58.3 c/ha, and seed yield is approximately 19.3 c/ha.
The variety is characterized by erect glumeless panicles, conical heads with dense glumes, and light-brown coloration at maturity. The grain is round, and the florets are grayish. Thanks to the combination of good yield and drought resistance, the 'PALMIRA' sorghum is suitable both for grain-feed purposes and for feed production under limited water resources.
