ORLOVCHANIN 2

ORLOVCHANIN 2 is a mid-ripening variety of field pea (Pisum sativum L.) belonging to the legume group. The plants are determinate, leafless, with white flowers and pods that are straight or have a very weak curvature with an obtuse tip. Seeds are round with yellow cotyledons and a light aril. Plant height varies from 39 to 80 cm, and the vegetative period is 72-89 days. The variety is characterized by high resistance to lodging and shattering, which ensures crop preservation and facilitates harvesting.

ORLOVCHANIN 2 is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the Central, Central Black Earth, Volga-Vyatka, and Ural regions, as well as in several oblasts and republics, such as Vladimir, Ivanovo, Kaluga, Moscow, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tula, Bryansk, Kursk, Orel, Perm Krai, Orenburg Oblast, and others. The average yield of the variety varies depending on the region and ranges from 15.6 to 31.8 c/ha, with a maximum recorded yield of 36.8 c/ha.

The variety is distinguished by its good protein content in the grain (21.1-22.8%), which makes it valuable in terms of quality. The mass of 1000 seeds is 178-270 g, which is slightly lower than that of standard varieties. Despite its high productivity, ORLOVCHANIN 2 is susceptible to ascochitis of pods and seeds, and is highly susceptible to root rots. Under field conditions, the variety is weakly affected by rust. It has medium drought resistance and is suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions, ensuring a stable yield with proper agrotechnical care.
