Description
Synbiir is a mid-season variety of field pea (Pisum sativum L.) that is leafless and non-shattering, intended for cultivation in various regions, including the Volga-Vyatsky, Central Black Earth, and Middle Volga regions. Plants reach a height of 42 to 84 cm, have an average number of nodes to the first fertile node, well-developed stipules, and low mottling density. Pods are straight or with very slight curvature, with blunt tips, seeds are round with yellow cotyledons and a closed hilum. The 1000-seed weight ranges from 173 to 245 g, indicating high seed quality density.
The variety is distinguished by high resistance to lodging and shattering, as well as enhanced drought resistance, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions. The vegetative period ranges from 59 to 93 days, corresponding to a mid-season maturity period. Synbiir yields are high: average indicators reach 19.5–26.6 c/ha in various regions, and maximum yields can reach 62 c/ha, confirming its high productivity.
Protein content in the grain reaches 27%, making this variety attractive for food and feed grain purposes. However, the variety is susceptible to ascochitis and highly susceptible to root rots, which requires attention to plant protection from these diseases. Overall, Synbiir is a high-yielding and adapted pea variety, combining good agronomic characteristics and grain quality indicators.
