Mercury

The Mercury peach is a mid-season table variety, distinguished by a compact tree size and an elevated canopy of medium density. The plant features large, broad, lance-shaped leaves of green color with a wrinkled and shiny surface, and leaf margins that are doubly serrated. Flowers are solitary, large, bell-shaped with pink petals, giving the tree a decorative appearance during the flowering period.

Mercury variety fruits have an oval shape and an average weight of about 130 grams. The main fruit color is yellow, with a reddish covering that covers from 25 to 50% of the surface and appears as blurred dots. The skin is of medium coarseness with a velvety pubescence of medium intensity. The flesh is yellow, juicy, of medium coarseness, and fibrous, possessing a sour-sweet taste with a tasting score of 4.5 points. The fruits contain 13.7% dry matter, 9.1% sugars, 0.5% acids, and 7.6 mg% of vitamin C. The pit is of medium size, reverse egg-shaped, and separates well from the flesh.

The variety is characterized by medium yield of about 140 centners per hectare, medium susceptibility to diseases, high drought resistance, and medium heat tolerance. The Mercury peach is suitable for cultivation in the Moscow Region and other regions with a similar climate. For planting, high-quality seedlings with a closed root system, grown in specialized nurseries and ready for garden planting, are offered.
