Description
Early maturing variety obtained at the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Genetics and Selection of Fruit Plants named after I. V. Michurin by S. P. Yakovlev from crossing the hybrid 'Ussuriyskaya Ch Bere Ligela' with the variety 'Citron de Carm'. Approved for Central and Volga regions.
Large, fast-growing tree. Pyramidal crown of medium density. Branches emerge at an acute angle. Bark peeling.
Shoots straight, light-brown. Few buds. Leaves medium-sized, egg-shaped, emerge at nearly right angles. Blade horizontal, base wedge-shaped, tip broadly pointed, margin serrated. Petiole medium-sized, thin.
Petals white, overlapping; sepals directed toward the pedicel. Flowering early. Pollinated well by the variety 'Pamяти Yakovleva'.
Fruits below average size, egg-shaped, regular form. Color greenish-yellow at harvest maturity, yellow during consumption period. Skin slightly rust-colored. Pedicel medium, curved. Calyx very small, mid-sized, half-open. Receptacle small. Heart-shaped. Subcalyx tube short.
Flesh tender, juicy, loose, slightly sour-sweet, without bitterness or granulation. Fruits contain 8.2% sugars, 0.78% acidity, 13.5 mg/100g vitamin C, 120 mg/100g P-active substances.
Harvest maturity occurs in the third decade of July; fruit consumption period lasts up to two weeks.
Fruits suitable for general use.
Trees begin fruiting in the 5th year after planting in orchards and yield up to 100 centners per hectare at 10 years of age. High winter hardiness; not affected by scab.
Advantages of the variety: very early fruit ripening, high winter hardiness, high yield, resistance to scab.
Disadvantages of the variety: small fruits at very high yields; susceptible to moniliosis.
