Description
The 'Korsunskaya' pear fruits are medium-sized, weighing 110-150 grams, with a broad-conical or broad-pear shape and slight ribbing. The skin is thin, smooth, yellow-green, turning straw-colored at maturity and developing a beautiful red-pink blush on the sun-exposed side. The skin surface is waxy to the touch and covered with a light waxy coating. The flesh is white, juicy, oily, tender, and sweet, with excellent flavor qualities, receiving a taste rating of 4.5-4.7 points. Harvesting maturity occurs at the end of August, and the fruits are immediately ready for consumption. Under normal conditions, they remain fresh for 2-3 weeks, and when stored in a refrigerator, they can last up to 3 months.
The 'Korsunskaya' variety is highly resistant to scab and winter-hardy, tolerating temperatures down to -30 to -34°C. Blossoms are resistant to spring frosts, but the tree is sensitive to early autumn frosts and temperature fluctuations, which may damage buds. The pear prefers loose, moist soils with a small amount of clay, sunny but wind-protected locations. Planting is recommended during spring, with mandatory application of organic and mineral-potassium fertilizers into the soil. The fruits are widely used fresh, as well as for making compotes and jams, due to their good storability and transportability.
