Description
The 'Lvivskiy Souvenir' pear is a winter variety registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties in 2008. It is recommended for cultivation in the Polissia and Forest-Steppe regions of Ukraine due to its sufficient winter hardiness and resistance to fungal and bacterial diseases. The tree has medium growth vigor, forms a sparse, reverse-pyramidal crown, and begins fruiting on the previous year's growth and buds from the 5th-6th year when grown on a seedling rootstock.
The fruits of this variety are large, weighing 250–300 grams, with a correct elongated pear shape, gray-green base color, and russet tones. The flesh is creamy, juicy, oily, without granules, and has a distinct rose aroma. In years with cool summers, the fruits acquire a pronounced tartness, rated at 7.7–8.2 points. Harvesting maturity occurs in October, while consumer maturity is in November–December.
The variety is distinguished by a long storage life: when stored in a refrigerator under normal atmosphere, the fruits retain freshness until April. The fruits contain 14.2% soluble solids, 9.0% sugars, 0.3% acids, 1.5% pectins, and 3.0 mg/100 g vitamin C, making them not only delicious but also nutritious. 'Lvivskiy Souvenir' is an excellent choice for those who prefer large, aromatic, and long-lasting pears.
