Description
Valor plum is a high-quality garden variety distinguished by its high winter hardiness and disease resistance, particularly to fungal infections, although it may be susceptible to shot hole disease. The tree begins fruiting as early as the second year after planting, reaching a height of 100-120 cm. Mature trees can produce up to 50 kg of plums with exceptional flavor qualities. This variety is a Canadian selection, resulting from a cross between the Imperial Epineze and Great Duke varieties. Valor plums are large, weighing 50-100 g, with a dark purple skin covered by a dense bloom and occasional white speckles. The flesh ranges from yellow-green to orange, fibrous, tender, and juicy. The taste is dessert-like, with a predominance of sweetness and a mild acidity, along with a pleasant aroma. The fruit ripens in September, making it suitable for both fresh consumption and freezing. The Valor variety is especially prized for its outstanding flavor, high yield, and excellent storage capacity — fruits can be stored for up to six weeks without quality loss. Thanks to its frost resistance and good storability, this plum is one of the best representatives of the Hungarian plum, suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions and ensuring a stable, abundant harvest.
