Description
The potato variety Holmogorsky is an early-maturing table variety with a maturation period of 50-65 days, allowing for the first harvest as early as the 45th day after emergence of seedlings. The plant is of medium height, semi-erect with medium-sized leaves and wavy edges. Tubers are oval-shaped with medium-depth eyes, covered with smooth red skin, and have light-yellow flesh. The mass of marketable tubers ranges from 88 to 118 grams, and starch content is 11.4-14.7%, ensuring good taste and versatility in culinary use, including salads, soups, and frying.
The yield of the Holmogorsky variety is high and stable: marketable yield ranges from 148 to 262 centners per hectare, with maximum yields reaching 392 centners per hectare, significantly exceeding standards compared to other varieties. Tubers have a marketability rate of 83-90%, and storability reaches 93%, indicating good product preservation during storage. The number of tubers per plant ranges from 8 to 12, contributing to the variety's high productivity.
The variety is resistant to the potato cyst nematode, enhancing its reliability in cultivation. It is also weakly affected by the golden potato cyst nematode. According to phytopathological studies, Holmogorsky is susceptible to late blight in foliage and moderately resistant in tubers. Preferred cultivation regions include the Northern and Northwestern regions of Russia. Due to its characteristics and resistance, the Holmogorsky variety is an excellent choice for early harvest of high-quality table potatoes.
