Description
The Lady Claire potato is an early Dutch variety intended for cultivation in the Central region of Russia. Medium-height plants with semi-erect stems and medium to large green leaves. Tubers are oval, medium-sized, weighing from 82 to 107 grams, with smooth slightly rough yellow skin and light-yellow flesh. Starch content varies from 11.6% to 16.2%, making this variety suitable for processing into potato products such as chips, starch, and potato flour. Taste quality is rated as satisfactory to good, and marketability reaches 81–94%, indicating high crop quality.
The Lady Claire variety has high yield potential, reaching 140 to 267 centners per hectare, significantly exceeding the yield of the standard Nevsky variety. The variety exhibits good storage life — approximately 94% — and resistance to several diseases, including potato late blight and golden potato cyst nematode. However, the plant is susceptible to phytophthora: susceptible to foliage and moderately susceptible to tubers, therefore early harvest is recommended to minimize losses.
Lady Claire is well-adapted to cultivation on loamy and chernozem soils, with medium-firm creamy-white flesh, close to white. The variety is resistant to mechanical damage and has a long storage period, facilitating storage and transportation. Due to its characteristics and versatility, Lady Claire is an excellent choice for both table consumption and industrial processing.
