Developed by the A.G. Lorch Potato Research Center and partners, this variety is designed for consistent production of marketable-sized tubers.

Crop Management and Protection

Operational efficiency is a major benefit of this variety. Due to its strong genetic resistance to potato wart, common scab, and alternaria, the need for intensive fungicide spraying is significantly reduced. This not only cuts down production costs but also ensures a cleaner, more reliable harvest. The plant architecture supports uniform tuber setting, which minimizes the number of undersized potatoes during mechanical harvesting.

Post-Harvest and Marketability

Vympel tubers are characterized by their smooth, yellow skin and consistent round-oval shape, making them easy to handle on automated grading lines. The average tuber weight ranges from 50 to 130 grams, meeting the precise requirements for retail packaging and commercial processing. During storage, the variety maintains high structural integrity, which reduces wastage during loading and transportation. It is equally suitable for the fresh market and for the dehydrated potato industry.
