Christmas

The 'Christmas' quince variety is a medium-sized tree with a compact, rounded crown, bearing fruit as early as 2–3 years after planting and fruiting regularly. The fruits are large (average weight around 30–32 g), round in shape, slightly ribbed on the surface, and covered with bright yellow smooth skin with a slight down. The flesh is light cream, juicy and aromatic, of medium density, making the fruit pleasant to eat fresh or processed.

'Christmas' is distinguished by high yield – up to 30 t/ha, as well as excellent winter hardiness and resistance to fungal diseases and subcutaneous spotting. The fruits retain their quality during storage from 70 to 95 days, ensuring good transportability and a long sales period. The chemical composition of the fruits shows a high percentage of dry matter (up to 20%), sugars (around 9%), and vitamin C (35 mg/100 g).

The variety is suitable for cultivation in regions with a moderately cold climate, where drought resistance and low need for agrotechnical interventions are valued. Thanks to the juicy flesh and high sugar content, 'Christmas' is widely used both for selling fresh fruits and for producing jams, compotes, and other high-quality processed products.
