Description
Selected at the North Caucasus Regional Institute of Horticulture and Viticulture (Krasnodar) from seeds of open-pollinated Kaunchi-8. Breeders: S. F. Rusak, N. V. Mozhar. Approved for the North Caucasus region.
Medium-sized tree, round, somewhat sparse crown with good leafing. Main branches branch off the trunk at a 45-degree angle, thin and smooth. The trunk is slightly twisted, dark gray with brown lenticels, rough.
Shoots are thin, dark brown, slightly hairy. Internodes are short; stipules are small and pointed. Leaves are medium-sized, thin, rigid, glossy, heart-shaped with a pointed tip; leaf blade smooth or slightly wavy, with weak venation, weak hairiness on the underside; petiole short, medium thickness, brightly colored; stipules small, wedge-shaped, finely toothed.
Flowers are large, light pink, with noticeable pink veins on half the petal. Petals are oval; stamens are light purple, pistils green, positioned below the anthers. Sepals are medium-sized, with pointed tips.
Fruits are medium-sized, weighing 200-250 g, round, with a slight bulge at the stem attachment, lemon-yellow skin.
Flesh is yellow, juicy, tender, slightly tart-sweet, pleasant. Fruits contain 16.9% dry matter, 10.3% sugars, 1.39% titratable acids, 31.5 mg/100g ascorbic acid, 182 mg/100g raw weight of P-active catechins.
Fruits ripen in the third decade of September and can be stored for 60-90 days. High transportability. Universally suitable, yields high-quality processed products, suitable for making jams, compotes, and dietetic juices.
Trees begin fruiting after 4 years. Yield is 130-160 centners per hectare. The variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness and drought resistance, occasionally affected to a minor degree by fungal diseases.
Advantages of the variety: high quality of processed products, winter hardiness, drought resistance of the tree.
Disadvantages of the variety: small fruit size.
