Description
Mirabilis, also known as "Evening Beauty", is an annual herbaceous plant about 60 cm tall, belonging to the Nyctaginaceae family. The native habitat of this flower is the warm mountain regions of North and Central America. The plant is characterized by bright green decorative leaves and straight stems that form numerous side shoots, giving the bush a lush and attractive appearance. Mirabilis rhizomes are winding and tuberous with yellow skin, allowing the plant to successfully withstand drought and cold periods in its natural environment. A distinctive feature of Mirabilis is its unique blooming cycle: flowers open in the evening, around 4 PM, and remain open until morning. They come in various colors—white, yellow, orange, raspberry, and purple, reaching up to 2.5 cm in diameter. The flowers emit a pleasant scent that attracts night butterflies, filling the garden with a mysterious and enchanting atmosphere. Some varieties of Mirabilis can have flowers of different shades on one bush, adding to the plant's decorativeness. Mirabilis is easy to care for and adapts well to various growing conditions, preferring sunny and warm places. It is drought-resistant and sun-loving, making it an excellent choice for mixed borders and decorative garden compositions. The plant is propagated both through seedlings and direct sowing in open ground. After flowering, small black single-seeded fruits form on the bushes, completing the plant's life cycle.
