Description
The Druzhba clonal rootstock is a dwarf hybrid of cherry rootstock (Microcerasus pumila) and apricot (Armeniaca vulgaris). It is characterized by high productivity: when planted on this rootstock, plum and apricot yields increase by 30‑40% compared to seedlings, and the fruiting period ranges from 15 to 18 years. The rootstock is resistant to heavy and waterlogged soils, root rot, and leaf diseases. Root hardiness reaches –150 °C, ensuring reliable performance in cold climatic conditions.
Physical characteristics of the Druzhba rootstocks include thick, long, and hairless shoots that do not branch, as well as red-brown bark. Leaves have an oval shape, a leathery appearance without pubescence, which promotes efficient photosynthesis. The root system is characterized by powerful fibrous growth and a distinctive red coloration, similar to apricot, which ensures good stress resistance.
Propagation of rootstocks is carried out using green, semi-lignified cuttings and horizontal layering. In nurseries, rooted cuttings demonstrate high survival rates and quickly become ready for budding. Due to these properties, Druzhba is an excellent choice for gardeners seeking to increase yield and tree resilience.
