Finger

The "Finger" rosehip variety is a medium-sized bush with a characteristic medium-spreading structure. Canes are thick and curved, covered with a brownish shiny bark, and bear short, thick thorns perpendicular to the cane. Leaves are of medium size, green in color, with a leathery surface and sharp serrations; each leaflet is straight and smooth.

The berries of this variety have an average mass of 2–3 grams, an orange-red color, and an elongated shape. The taste is sour-sweet, no aroma is present, but the vitamin C content reaches 2100 mg% of the berry mass. Tasting scores for fresh berries – 4.0 points; for compotes – 4.5; for jams – 4.7; for dried products – 5 points.

The variety is resistant to low temperatures and has high winter hardiness, and is not susceptible to diseases and pests. Yield is average: about one kilogram of berries per bush. "Finger" was obtained as a result of crossing varieties «Vitaminny VNI VI» and form «1–6–3» of wrinkled rosehip; the author is V.D. Strelets.
