Dniprovskyi rubyin

The rosehip variety «Dniprovskyi rubyin» – the first industrial fruit rosehip variety in Ukraine, developed by specialists of TOV «Shypshyna Ukrainy». It is distinguished by high yield up to 15 t/ha and average bush productivity of about 3 kg/bush under intensive cultivation with irrigation and feeding. Bushes reach a height of 200 cm, have an average root system and half-upright crowns, which ensures good wind and frost resistance.

The crop is distinguished by resistance to adverse climatic conditions: winter-hardy (9 points), resistant to spring icing, drought, as well as a wide range of diseases and pests. Among the resistant diseases are iron rust, powdery mildew, infectious burn, black spots, and gray mold; regarding pests – the meadow cicada, the aphid, the deer woolly and the golden bronze.

The average size of the thorns allows for easier harvest collection.

The fruits are characterized by an average weight of 2.1 g, with about 50–150 berries growing on each fruit stalk, which ensures a rich supply of vitamins and trace elements. Flowering begins in mid-May and continues until the beginning of June (22 days), and later flowering in the second half of May protects the harvest from the risk of icing.

Simple agricultural machines are required for growing – tractor, mulcher, sprayer. The harvest is collected from mid-September to the first frosts and can be stored for a long time after drying or freezing. The variety is enjoying growing demand both in the Ukrainian domestic market and abroad, where the price per kilogram reaches 1 euro.

Thus, «Dniprovskyi rubyin» represents a highly efficient, winter-hardy rosehip variety suitable both for commercial production and for garden growing thanks to its vegetative hardiness and rich vitamin composition of berries.
