Description
Rosa rugosa 'Rosy' – a large-fruited variety of medium maturity with an upright bush up to 1.5 m tall and an oval crown. The bush is fully prickly along the entire length of the shoot, leaves are large, deep green and slightly wrinkled. Flowers are bright pink, fragrant, and the flowering period is long – late May to early June.
The crop ripens at the end of August to early September: berries are large (10–13 g), deep red-pink in color, squashed-spherical, shiny and hairless. They are collected in clusters of 3–5 pieces. The taste of the fruits is sweet with a slight tartness and a light aroma, making them ideal for making jam, liqueurs, syrups and pastilles. The variety belongs to the group of thick-walled varieties, so the berries maintain their shape well during drying.
Yield up to 6 kg per bush allows using 'Rosy' as a universal product for home preservation: jam, syrup, pastille and even dried berries. Due to their large size and rich taste, the fruits are easy to process, and during drying they maintain aroma and beneficial properties. Such rose hips will be an excellent choice for both lovers of home preserves and those who appreciate natural taste and rich vitamin composition.
