The Rostselmash Don-1500 combine harvester is a classic 5th-class performance grain harvesting unit. Developed for various climatic zones, it has become a base model for mass harvesting of cereals and legumes. Engine and Transmission

The heart of the machine is a YaMZ-238AK diesel engine with 235 horsepower. This V-type eight-cylinder unit possesses high torque, necessary for maintaining a stable threshing drum rotation speed when working in heavy conditions with high humidity or field debris. The transmission features a hydrostatic drive, allowing for seamless speed adjustment in the range from 0 to 20 km/h, which is critical for precise threshing mode compliance.

Threshing and Separation System

The main working organ is a threshing drum with a diameter of 800 mm and a width of 1500 mm. Such a design ensures high centrifugal force and effective threshing even when working with wet mass. The concave area is 1.38 square meters, which, combined with a 5-walker straw shaker, allows for efficient separation of grain from non-grain crop residues. The design allows for quick adjustments of the concave clearance depending on the crop, which minimizes grain damage.

Chassis and Mobility

The Don-1500 is equipped with a drive axle with differential lock and large-diameter steerable wheels, providing the necessary mobility on loose soils and when working on sloped fields. The 4x2 wheel formula maintains maneuverability, while the reinforced frame construction withstands vibrational loads when working with headers ranging from 6 to 8.6 meters in width, ensuring stable operation of components without skewing or deformation.

Hydraulics and Grain Tank

The combine's hydraulic system handles the lifting and lowering of the header, reel control, and powers the variators for drum speed and cleaning fan operation. The 6-cubic-meter grain tank is equipped with an unloading system reaching speeds of up to 40 liters per second. This allows for unloading accumulated grain into transport vehicles in 90–120 seconds, minimizing machine downtime in the field during peak harvest loads.

Application in Agricultural Operations

The machine demonstrates maximum efficiency on medium-sized farms with planting areas from 500 to 1,500 hectares. Due to high throughput, the combine allows for harvesting within tight agrotechnical deadlines. When swapping the header for a pick-up or an adapter for row crops, the machine becomes a universal tool, covering farm needs for collecting almost all types of grain crops throughout the season.
