IVER 95

Sorghum saccharum IVER 95® is a medium-early variety intended for sugar production and fodder production. The plants reach a height of 200-250 cm, have a juicy stem with a high sugar content in the juice — from 19.6 to 20.3%. The leaves are narrow, green, and non-hairy, while the panicle is loose, black, and slightly inclined to one side, measuring 20-22 cm in length. The grains are oval, yellow-brown, and glabrous, with a 1000-grain mass of 21.8-23.0 g, indicating good yield and raw material quality. The variety is distinguished by high resistance to lodging and medium drought resistance, which allows for successful cultivation in various climatic conditions. IVER 95® has good resistance to diseases, specifically, it is weakly and moderately affected by red bacterial speckle and aphids. Thanks to these characteristics, the variety is suitable for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the North Caucasus region. Bushiness of the variety is weak, and the anthocyanin coloration of seedlings is expressed weakly. The stem is moderately foliose, which facilitates harvesting and processing. The average yield of dry matter in the region is about 122.8 c/ha, which makes IVER 95® a profitable choice for sugar and feed producers. The variety is included in the State Register and recommended for use in the agricultural sector.
