Description
KAMELIK sorghum variety is a mid-early grain variety intended primarily for grain forage production and feed use. The plant is low-growing, with a height of 80 to 122 cm, early heading time, and a medium-length symmetrical panicle. The grain is round, reddish-brown, with a semi-glassy endosperm; the mass of 1000 grains varies from 18.5 to 38 g depending on the region and growing conditions. The variety is characterized by weak or absent anthocyanin seedling coloration and weak yellow glume coloration, which is a distinguishing feature.
KAMELIK differs in high yield and year-to-year stability. Average grain yield is about 22-23 c/ha, exceeding average standards by 4-5 c/ha, while maximum indicators reach 43.6-84.4 c/ha in various regions. Protein content in grain is 12-13%, starch is 70-72%, ensuring high feed energy value. The variety is drought-resistant (9 out of 10 points), lodging-resistant (10 out of 10), and resistant to grass smut (9 out of 10), making it suitable for cultivation in northern and Middle Volga regions, as well as for replanting in southern areas.
For sowing, a wide-row method is recommended with a row spacing of 45-70 cm and a population density of 100-120 thousand plants per hectare, with a seed rate of 2.6-3.2 kg/ha. Due to high branching, the variety can be used for continuous sowing and is suitable for producing grain silage and monocrop feed. KAMELIK is a highly effective and adapted to various climatic conditions variety, confirmed by its inclusion in state registers of several regions and recognition by leading agronomists.
