Description
Sugar sorghum KALIBR® is a high-yield grain crop variety widely used in agriculture for fodder production and sugar processing. This variety is distinguished by its high sugar content in stem juice, reaching 14.9-15.7%, which makes it valuable for agronomic purposes. The plant features an upright bush with dark green lanceolate leaves and a gray-white panicle 25-27 cm long. The mass of 1000 grains ranges from 28 to 32.3 g; the grain is round, matte-white, with a high degree of hulling and good threshability.
The KALIBR® variety is intended for use as green fodder, silage, haylage, and grain. The vegetative period ranges from 92 to 117 days depending on the maturity stage, allowing for effective planning of agrotechnical operations. Grain yield at standard moisture levels reaches 1.9-3.4 t/ha, while when grown for silage, green mass yield is 17.9-23.4 t/ha with an absolute dry matter content of 4.55-6.59 t/ha. Protein content in grain ranges from 8.7-9.2%, starch from 63.7-66.4%, and fat from 2.1-2.4%, ensuring high nutritional and energy value of the fodder.
Agronomic characteristics of the variety include plant height from 207 to 229 cm, low stem brittleness, and low lodging (0.8-3.1%), which contributes to resistance to adverse weather conditions and facilitates mechanized harvesting. The variety is resistant to pests and diseases such as aphids, loose smut, and bacterial blight, and possesses high drought and cold tolerance, rated at 5 points. These qualities make KALIBR® a reliable choice for farmers seeking high-quality fodder and sugar-containing mass with minimal care and harvesting costs.
