KAMYSHINSKOYE 64 — a mid-early grain sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) variety developed by LLC 'KAMYSHINSKOYE OPH' and included in the State Register for the Lower Volga region. The plant is characterized by elongated-conical, long leaves with green coloring and yellow-white veins. The panicle is widely spreading, elongated-conical, droops at maturity, has a symmetrical shape of medium length and medium density. Glume bracts are light violet or black at maturity, with weakly developed or absent awns on the lower lemma. Grain is round, white or grayish with semi-starchy endosperm; the mass of 1000 grains ranges from 23.7 to 28 g. The variety exhibits medium grain yield, reaching approximately 17.1 centners per hectare in the Lower Volga region, with the maximum yield recorded in 2016 in the Kalmykia Republic at 51.1 centners per hectare. In terms of grain quality, KAMYSHINSKOYE 64 meets standards for cereal crops and contains approximately 7.6% protein. The plant is low at maturity with early-mid heading time, which facilitates harvest collection. KAMYSHINSKOYE 64 possesses resistance to bacterial blight, is affected by red bacterial leaf spot to a weak degree, which increases its reliability in field conditions. The absence or weak manifestation of anthocyanin and yellow coloring on various parts of the plant indicates its adaptability to the growing region conditions. The variety is intended for grain use and is suitable for cultivation in the Lower Volga region.
