Description
KWS LUPUS — a grain sorghum hybrid recommended for cultivation in Region 6, including the North Caucasus. It features a medium-early vegetation period and high yield on various soil types. Plants reach a height of about 130 cm, have a closed panicle 28-30 cm long, and produce reddish-brown, round seeds. The sum of active temperatures for successful cultivation is approximately 1800°C, corresponding to optimal regional conditions. Sowing rates vary depending on conditions: from 150-180 thousand seeds per hectare in dry conditions to 270-330 thousand seeds under irrigation.
The hybrid exhibits high drought resistance and resistance to Fusarium, and is also weakly affected by bacterial blight and bacterial spot, ensuring stable yields. The 1000-seed weight is 37-38 g, protein content is about 12%, and tannin content is very low, positively affecting grain quality. High milling yield (about 82%) and excellent culinary rating make KWS LUPUS attractive for grain production.
Sowing is recommended when soil temperature reaches +14°C at a depth of 10 cm, with seeds planted at a depth of 3-5 cm. The hybrid has a medium growth rate and low tillering intensity, allowing optimal use of sowing area. High yield potential is confirmed by maximum yields of up to 63.8 centners per hectare, achieved in Rostov Oblast, demonstrating its adaptability and efficiency under regional agrotechnical conditions.
