Description
KWS LUPUS is a mid-early grain sorghum hybrid intended for cultivation under various climatic conditions, particularly recommended for Region 6. Plants reach a height of about 130 cm, have a closed panicle 28-30 cm long, and brown grain with very low tannin content. The vegetative period is characterized by a medium speed of development and low tillering intensity, which ensures yield stability. The sum of active temperatures for maturation is 1800°C, and the mass of 1000 grains ranges from 37 to 38 grams. The hybrid is distinguished by high yield and stability on various soil types, demonstrating high yield potential. In the North Caucasus region, the average yield is 33.5 c/ha, with maximum figures reaching 63.8 c/ha. KWS LUPUS has high drought resistance, fusarium, bacteriosis, and bacterial leaf spot resistance, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in complex conditions. High grain output—about 81.9%—and excellent culinary rating make this variety attractive for grain production. Sorghum KWS LUPUS is also widely used for feed purposes due to its high protein content (about 12%) and grain energy value. Recommended sowing rates depend on growing conditions: from 150-180 thousand seeds per hectare in dry conditions to 270-330 thousand seeds with irrigation. The optimal seed burial depth is 3-5 cm at a soil temperature of not lower than +14°C. Due to its characteristics and adaptability, KWS LUPUS is a universal and effective variety for grain and feed use.
