KWS OKTAVIUS

KWS OKTAVIUS is a hybrid of grain sorghum (Sorghum bicolor), characterized by its late maturity and high yield. The plants are of medium height, reaching 140-150 cm, with a closed panicle about 35 cm long and grain that is light yellow or white with low tannin content (less than 0.1%). The mass of 1000 seeds ranges from 26.2 to 33 g, and the protein content in the grain is 12-13%. Anthocyanin pigmentation of the coleoptile and sheath of the first leaf is absent or very weakly expressed, which is a characteristic feature of this hybrid.

The hybrid is recommended for cultivation in various regions, including the North Caucasus, and demonstrates high resistance to drought and fusarium. Average yield in the region reaches 29.5 centners per hectare, while record figures can exceed 65 centners per hectare. KWS OKTAVIUS adapts well to different soil types and climatic conditions, making it a versatile choice for grain production.

For successful cultivation, it is recommended to sow at a soil temperature of not lower than +14°C at a depth of about 10 cm. The sowing rate depends on the conditions: from 150-180 thousand seeds per hectare in dry conditions to 270-330 thousand seeds with irrigation. High flour yield and excellent culinary qualities of the grain make this hybrid attractive for agrarians seeking to obtain high-quality and stable sorghum yields.
