Description
Morshanskaya 69 is an early variety of meadow timothy (Phleum pratense L.), obtained through repeated mass selection of early-maturing plants from local forms. The variety is distinguished by its high winter hardiness and drought resistance, making it suitable for cultivation in a wide range of climatic conditions. Under standard agronomic practices, it can yield up to 11 tons of dry matter per hectare over three cuttings, with seed yield reaching 480 kg/ha.
The variety performs well both for hay production and pasture use. It is particularly effective on dry and floodplain meadows, where its high drought resistance ensures stable growth even with limited water availability. Morshanskaya 69 responds well to irrigation, which allows increasing yield during periods of adverse weather. On chernozem soils, the variety achieves maximum yields, demonstrating excellent density and hay quality.
Biological studies note moderate susceptibility to rust, however, this does not significantly reduce productivity. The variety was approved for use in 1986 for the Central Black Earth Region, where it has already proven itself as a reliable and highly efficient material for intensive agroecosystems. Morshanskaya 69 is an ideal choice for farmers seeking sustainable increase in forage crop productivity while maintaining high hay quality and pasture fodder potential.
