Black Prince

The tomato 'Black Prince' is a tall indeterminate plant that can reach up to 2.5 meters in height. For successful cultivation, it requires staking of both stems and flower clusters, as large fruits weighing around 300-350 grams create significant weight, which may cause stem breakage. The plant begins forming flowers after the 7th-9th leaf, with subsequent intervals of three leaves, ensuring steady fruiting. The planting scheme is 2-3 plants per square meter, with a recommended distance of at least 1.5 meters between different tomato varieties to avoid unwanted cross-pollination.

The variety is mid-season, with a fruiting period of approximately 110-120 days from germination. The fruits have a flat-round shape with distinct ribbing and a unique coloring: the upper part of the ripe tomato is black-purple, while the lower part is bright purple. The flesh is dense, meaty, juicy, and sweet, with no excessive acidity, making the tomatoes especially delicious and appealing for fresh consumption. The average fruit weight ranges from 250 to 350 grams, and in some cases reaches 450 grams.

'Black Prince' is characterized by high yield — under good care, one plant can produce 4-5 kilograms of fruit. The variety is suitable for cultivation both in greenhouses and in open ground. Tomatoes are widely used for making salads, various cold and hot dishes, as well as for canning for winter storage. Despite their large size, the fruits do not have a long shelf life or transportability, which should be considered when harvesting and selling the crop.
