Description
SAUR is a spring triticale variety obtained by selection from a mutant population and included in the State Register for the Volga-Vyatka region. Plants of this variety have a hexaploid chromosome set, an erect or semi-erect medium-height stalk with a long white awn-bearing spike that is fully awned and dense. The flowering period of the variety is medium-early, and the average weight of 1000 grains is about 40.9 grams. The maximum registered yield reached 56.6 centners per hectare, while the protein content in the grain is 10.2%, ensuring a high average protein collection of about 2.1 centners per hectare.
The SAUR variety differs in high heat and drought resistance, which makes it a reliable choice for growing in conditions with limited moisture. It is also resistant to a range of pathogens, including rust, powdery mildew, bunt, and loose smut, which contributes to yield stability and reduced losses during storage and processing. Medium-early maturity allows for effective planning of agro-technical operations and timely harvesting.
Due to its qualities, the SAUR variety is recommended for use in various branches of the food industry, including confectionery, compound feed, and baking. The high protein content in the grain makes it particularly valuable for the production of products with improved nutritional characteristics. Such a complex of properties ensures the varieties of triticale SAUR wide application and demand among agricultural producers.
