The 72th Anniversary watermelon is a mid-season variety with a maturation period from full germination to the first fruit harvest of 84-88 days. The plant is characterized by a long-vine growth type, which contributes to the formation of large fruits of elongated-spherical and spherical shape. The watermelon rind is light green with dark green narrow stripes having small teeth, which gives the fruit an attractive appearance. The average fruit weight is about 3.2 kg, which ensures good marketable yield.

The watermelon flesh is intensely pink, granular, tender and juicy, with pronounced sweetness and a slight pleasant acidity, making its taste especially attractive to consumers. The variety is characterized by stable expression of its traits and is adapted to various climatic conditions, which allows it to be grown in different regions. The variety yield reaches 22.8-26.5 tons per hectare, indicating its high productivity.

The 72th Anniversary variety has medium resistance to powdery mildew, but is affected by bacterial infection to a degree higher than average, which requires attention during growing and carrying out protective measures. The variety was registered in the Lower Volga region and developed by the Bykovskaya melon breeding experimental station, which confirms its adaptation to local conditions and reliability in agronomic terms.
