CHELYABINSK METEORITE

Chelyabinsk Meteorite is an early maturing watermelon variety, ripening 68-70 days from germination. The plant is powerful and vining, ensuring abundant fruit production. The fruits have a spherical or spherical-flat shape, are weakly segmented, and are colored green with blurred black-green stripes. Each watermelon weighs between 6 to 10 kg, and the dense skin protects the fruit and promotes good transportability. The watermelon flesh is deep red with a purple hue, granular, juicy, and sweet, making it an excellent choice for fresh consumption. Additionally, the variety is valued for its high yield - from one plant, you can collect from 15 to 18 kg of fruits. The watermelon is resistant to powdery mildew, which eases care and improves crop quality. Thanks to the dense skin and good storability, the fruits retain freshness for up to three months after harvesting. For growing Chelyabinsk Meteorite, sowing seedlings is recommended in early May, followed by transplanting into open ground at the end of May - early June when there are 3-4 true leaves. In southern regions, direct sowing into the ground is possible in April-May. When growing under film covers, plants are formed into a single stem, removing side shoots and tying to a trellis. For successful growth and abundant fruiting, timely watering, regular weeding, loosening, and feeding with mineral fertilizers are necessary. This variety is also suitable for making jam, jelly, and pickles.
