The LEADER watermelon variety is an early-maturing crop with spherical fruits of light green color adorned with dark green stripes. The flesh is pink, tender, juicy, and highly sweet, containing 10.1% sugars and 10.9% dry matter. The yield reaches 44.0–53.0 tons per hectare, making it attractive for commercial cultivation. The recommended sowing density is from 1.0 to 3.0 kg of seeds per hectare, with the best predecessors being potatoes, cabbage, and legumes.

The LEADER watermelon belongs to annual plants with long trailing vines and a powerful root system. For successful cultivation, heat, sunshine, and well-warmed soil are required. Seeds germinate at temperatures not lower than +15 °C, and for the full development of vines and fruits, a temperature range from +22 to +30 °C is optimal. The plant is sensitive to frost, especially during germination and budding stages, therefore it requires careful care and protection during cold periods.
