Sicheslav

The Sicheslav watermelon variety is a medium-ripening type with round, smooth, light-green fruits adorned with wide, wavy stripes. The average weight of marketable fruit is about 2.4 kg. The flesh is pink, medium-dense, juicy, and sweet, making this variety especially appealing for fresh consumption. Due to its flavor and flesh structure, the Sicheslav watermelon is also suitable for pickling.

This variety is characterized by high yield, reaching 16 to 32 tons per hectare, making it profitable for cultivation both in private gardens and for commercial purposes. The Sicheslav watermelon is drought-resistant, allowing successful cultivation in various climatic zones, including different regions of Ukraine. The crop is warm-loving and light-demanding, preferring light, fertile soils, which must be considered when choosing a planting site.

For sowing, Sicheslav watermelon seeds should be planted at a depth of 3–5 cm with a seeding rate of 0.2–0.3 grams per square meter. The variety was registered in 1995 and has since gained wide popularity due to the combination of high fruit quality, good transportability, and resistance to adverse conditions. The Sicheslav watermelon is ideal for local consumption and transportation, making it a versatile choice for gardeners and farmers.
