The coconut whitefly (scientific name: Aleurocanthus cocois) is a destructive insect species belonging to the order Hemiptera and the family Aleyrodidae. These pests are known for their ability to rapidly infest plantation and ornamental crops, posing a significant threat to agricultural productivity in tropical regions.
The host range of Aleurocanthus cocois primarily includes species of the Arecaceae family, such as coconut and date palms. However, they can also affect citrus trees and various other tropical plants, making them a polyphagous threat that requires constant vigilance from growers.
