Aleurocanthus husaini is a significant insect pest belonging to the family Aleyrodidae, within the order Hemiptera. Known commonly as Husain's whitefly, this species is recognized for its ability to infest various economically important plants, particularly in regions with subtropical and tropical climates.

The primary hosts for this pest include citrus species and various ornamental shrubs. Its impact is most severe in commercial citrus orchards where the infestation can lead to a drastic reduction in fruit quality and yield, posing a serious challenge to farmers and orchard managers worldwide.

The life cycle of this whitefly involves an egg stage, several nymphal stages, and the adult stage. The nymphs are sessile and primarily found on the underside of leaves, where they feed by extracting phloem sap. This feeding behavior, combined with their rapid reproduction rate, allows the pest to colonize host plants very efficiently.

Damage caused by Aleurocanthus husaini is twofold: direct and indirect. Direct damage occurs due to the extraction of plant nutrients, which causes wilting and leaf drop. Indirect damage involves the secretion of honeydew, which fosters the growth of sooty mold. This mold covers the leaves, hindering photosynthesis and reducing the overall health and productivity of the plant.

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is essential for effective control. Key strategies include:
