These small, sap-sucking insects are recognized for their specialized feeding habits, which allow them to thrive specifically on certain monocotyledonous hosts.

Affected crops: This pest primarily targets members of the Poaceae family. It is most frequently documented on rice plantations and various wild grasses. Due to its host specificity, Aleurocybotus can cause significant economic losses in rice-producing regions by disrupting the plant's vascular tissue.

Biology and life cycle: The life cycle of Aleurocybotus consists of egg, nymphal stages, and adult. The nymphs are sessile and tend to congregate on the underside of leaves, where they extract plant juices. The transition to the adult stage involves the emergence of winged individuals capable of colonizing new plants and expanding the infestation area rapidly under favorable thermal conditions.
