Spiraea whitefly (lat. Aleyrodes spiraeoides) is an insect species belonging to the order Hemiptera and the family Aleyrodidae. As a significant agricultural pest, it affects various plant species, thriving in environments that provide consistent food sources throughout the growing season.

This species targets a wide range of host plants, including various horticultural and ornamental varieties. It is frequently observed on crops such as potatoes, beans, and greenhouse tomatoes. By congregating on the undersides of leaves, these insects remain protected while piercing the plant epidermis to feed on phloem sap.

The life cycle of the pest consists of egg, nymphal, and adult stages. The nymphs are particularly damaging as they are stationary for most of their development and extract large amounts of nutrients from the host. As they feed, they excrete honeydew, a sugary substance that coats the leaves and serves as a medium for secondary infections.

Damage caused by Aleyrodes spiraeoides includes leaf yellowing, stunting, and overall plant decline. The accumulation of honeydew often leads to the growth of sooty mold, which creates a dark film on foliage.
