Biology and life cycle. The mosquito goes through a complete metamorphosis involving four stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Females typically deposit their eggs in stagnant water bodies such as rice paddies, irrigation ditches, or temporary rain pools. The development period from egg to adult is highly dependent on ambient temperature, often spanning between 10 to 14 days in tropical climates.
