Crops affected. The copse snail is a generalist feeder and poses a threat to a wide range of horticultural crops. It frequently targets vegetable seedlings, including lettuce, cabbage, and young pulses, as well as strawberries and various ornamental flowering plants. Their tendency to feed on succulent foliage makes them particularly destructive in early spring.

During dry periods, they seek shelter under debris or in moist soil. Nature of damage and pest importance. Damage is typically manifested as irregular holes in leaves, often leading to total leaf skeletonization in severe cases. Furthermore, the snail leaves trails of mucus on the foliage and produce, which is unsightly and can harbor plant pathogens. Significant populations can cause considerable economic loss in vegetable production by stunting plant growth or destroying seedlings entirely.
Control measures. Integrated pest management strategies include cultural practices such as removing garden debris, maintaining clear pathways to reduce hiding spots, and proper spacing of plants to increase air circulation.
