Description

Systematic position. Blaberus trapezoideus belongs to the order Blattodea and the family Blaberidae. While they are often kept as exotic pets, in a horticultural setting, they can act as opportunistic pests, particularly in large, humid greenhouse complexes where their ecological needs for shelter and moisture are easily met.

Affected crops and impact. These insects are known to feed on a wide range of organic materials. In agricultural and greenhouse environments, they can cause significant damage to young seedlings, ornamental plants, and various fruit-bearing crops.
