Diploptera punctata, also known as the Pacific beetle cockroach, belongs to the order Blattodea and the family Blaberidae. While often studied for its evolutionary peculiarities in laboratories, it can become a persistent pest in greenhouse environments and botanical gardens.

The host range for this pest includes a variety of tropical and indoor plants. The insects primarily target young seedlings, soft stems, and tender leaf tissues.
