It primarily damages tender plant tissues, including young seedlings, the apical buds of vegetable crops, and the leaves of various ornamental species. In greenhouse conditions, the pest takes advantage of the controlled environment, leading to localized but significant damage to high-value agricultural crops.

The biology of this species follows an incomplete metamorphosis. Females produce oothecae, which house the eggs and are carried until the nymphs are ready to hatch. The nymphs undergo several molts before reaching maturity. Their development is highly dependent on humidity levels and the availability of organic matter, which serves as both food and shelter during their growth phases.

The economic impact of this pest includes physical destruction of plant tissues and the potential transmission of plant pathogens. Feeding activity leaves behind irregular holes and skeletonized leaves, which stunt the plant's growth and reduce its overall market value. Severe infestations can result in total loss of seedlings, particularly in intensive cultivation systems.

Sanitation is critical; keeping greenhouse floors clean and removing dead plant material eliminates breeding grounds. Monitoring through the use of sticky traps is highly recommended.
