Unlike common domestic cockroaches, this species is primarily an outdoor dweller found in forests, fields, and agricultural environments, where it thrives in natural habitats with sufficient moisture and protective ground cover.

The damage to crops is caused by the insects feeding on young tissues, seedlings, and the reproductive organs of plants. They pose a significant threat to young vegetable crops, berry bushes, and tree nurseries. When populations reach high levels, these insects can cause severe defoliation and stem damage, hindering the healthy development of young plants during the night.
