The Kashmir flatheaded borer (Capnodis kashmirensis) is a destructive beetle species belonging to the family Buprestidae (order Coleoptera). It is a significant pest in warm, arid regions, where it poses a constant threat to commercial orchards and home gardens alike.

This pest primarily attacks stone fruit trees, including apricot, peach, cherry, and almond. The larvae represent the most dangerous stage of the insect's life cycle, as they feed internally on the roots and the base of the trunk, often remaining undetected until the tree shows severe signs of decline.

The biology of Capnodis kashmirensis is characterized by a multi-year development cycle. Adult beetles emerge in spring to feed on buds and young bark, while females deposit eggs in the soil near the root crown.
