This insect species is a typical phytophage that feeds on plant sap by piercing the epidermis with its proboscis. This pest prefers a wide range of crops, including fruit trees, ornamental shrubs, and certain types of tropical agricultural plants. Adult insects and nymphs are particularly dangerous during the active sap flow period when the plant is most vulnerable to nutrient loss and mechanical tissue damage.

The biology of Colgaroides acuminata is characterized by incomplete metamorphosis. The life cycle includes the egg stage, five nymphal instars, and the adult stage.
