Coraebus quadriundulatus is a wood-boring beetle belonging to the order Coleoptera and the family Buprestidae. This species is known for its role as a significant pest, primarily affecting the health and structural integrity of woody plants by targeting their cambium and bark layers during its larval development stage.

The host range of this beetle includes various tree and shrub species, often concentrating on deciduous plants. It frequently attacks trees that are already under physiological stress, though high population densities allow it to successfully colonize healthy host trees, leading to serious decline and eventual death of the affected parts.

The biology of the species follows a classic holometabolous cycle. Adults emerge during the warm season, mate, and lay eggs on the bark of host plants. Upon hatching, the larvae immediately bore into the bark, constructing complex galleries that cut off the supply of nutrients and water, which ultimately cripples the host's vascular system over time.

Damage caused by these insects is characterized by the internal destruction of the bark and cambium, which restricts sap flow. Visible signs of infestation include the wilting of foliage, branch dieback, and the presence of exit holes on the bark surface. If left untreated, the cumulative damage leads to significant yield losses in orchards and loss of ornamental value.

Effective management strategies should focus on integrated approaches to keep tree populations resilient:
