The adult insect is a large, net-winged predator characterized by clubbed antennae and a nocturnal lifestyle. Adults capture small insects in flight, while the larvae are sedentary ambush predators. They utilize their strong, sickle-shaped mandibles to grab prey that ventures into their hunting area within the rotting organic matter of trees.
