Diploscapter is a genus of soil nematodes that are increasingly recognized in agronomy for their ability to affect plant health. While many species in this genus function as bacteriophages, some are implicated in causing significant damage to the root systems of various economically important crops, acting as plant-parasitic organisms.

Taxonomically, they belong to the order Rhabditida and the family Rhabditidae. These nematodes are characterized by their small size and robust nature, allowing them to persist in diverse soil environments, including those that have been heavily amended or disturbed by standard farming practices.

The host range of Diploscapter is quite broad, impacting numerous horticultural and field crops. They are frequently identified as a factor in "replant disease" and poor growth in crops such as potatoes, onions, and various greenhouse-grown vegetables, where they penetrate the root epidermis to feed.
