Damage caused by this pest is often manifested as localized softening, spotting, and eventual collapse of the fruit tissue. The penetration points serve as entry sites for secondary pathogens, such as yeast and fungi, leading to rapid rotting. Consequently, infested fruit becomes unmarketable and unsuitable for fresh consumption or processing, causing severe yield reduction.
