The primary damage caused by these beetles occurs in nurseries and rearing ponds. Both adult beetles and their larvae are opportunistic hunters. They target young fish, feeding on them directly and thus causing significant losses in fish production density. The life cycle involves complete metamorphosis, including egg, larval, pupal, and adult stages. Females lay eggs inside aquatic plant stems. Furthermore, installing fine-mesh screens on inlet pipes prevents adults from entering controlled water bodies.
